Question:has anyone done such a thing, with tips on material for the custume,
tightness of costume, where to get a decent one?
Answer:
I have been thinking about wearing a clown costume in the mini marathon,
but not sure about the same things. I have been in a Donald Duck, Minnie,
costume and clown in parades and that is walking and very, very difficult.
LOL !! ah come on be brave! You may have half the neighborhood kids
chasing you, and cops, but that could only help your training, and get
you on the front page news!!
You sure will, and be careful because like I said having participated
in some huge parades as Disney characters was scary at times because of
the heat. I am still thinking about a mini clown suit and not the
traditional one .There are so many children who give so much to the
mini, and to the runners so I thought I would give back to them as I ran
the 13.1 miles. Maybe even take some candy with me in a sack.
Why?
Not to mention the cape flapping around would get really annoying after
a couple of miles. Suggestion: consider spiderman instead.
I would seriously try running in the costume in a park or somwhere maybe
very early in the morning. If you leave it until on the day you may have
some major problems...trust me. Heat and chaffing will be your major
problems, especially as you have to wear your undies on the outside !
Leave the Kryptonite at home this time. I might run as Clarke Kent, that way
i'd only have to put a pair of thick rimmed glasses on. I think even I could
manage that !
this may not be the best idea, depending on where you live. you may want to
give your family members quick access to the phone numbers for the local jail,
psychiatric ward, etc., before you head out on your local superman run..
hopefully you or one of your friends has a home treadmill. i would stick to
that!
For a laugh of course...Plus I figure the spectacle just may bring extra
support from the crowd which can only help me make it round.
There must be someone out there who's actually done it!
Somebody attempted to run in a supermans costume at this year's Houston
Marathon. All the children along the route waved and shouted .. he was their
hero. However, around mile 14, he started to over heat. He was soaked and
wobbling when I passed him and I'm sure he didn't finish.
What a let down for the children .. just think, how in the world could
superman not finish? I worry if their lives are scarred for life.
Anyway, if you're going to run as superman make sure you can go all the way.
