REGINA, Saskatchewan – All eight teams in the Western division of the National Ringette League (NRL) will be in action in a 28-game round-robin format at the Jim Benning Ringette Tournament being held from January 7-9 in Regina. NRL games will be played at Murray Balfour Arena (70 Massey Road), Jack Staples Arena (444 Broad Street North), Doug Wickenheiser Arena (1127 Arnason Street N.), Al Ritchie Memorial Arena (2230 Lindsay), Jack Hamilton Arena (1010 McCarthy Boulevard), and Clarence Mahon Arena (130 Brotherton). Full schedule of games is outlined below.

The Western division includes two Saskatchewan teams, the Regina Riot and Saskatoon Wild, two from Manitoba, Winnipeg’s Manitoba Ice and the Manitoba Stealth, three Alberta teams, the Edmonton Wam, Edmonton Edge, and Calgary Rath, and British Columbia’s BC Reign.

“Because all teams in the Western division will play against each other, this will be a good test of how the teams compare to each other,” said Keith Doering, coach of the Regina Riot. “Early results show some surprising parity in the west that should result in some interesting challenges for a wildcard spot at the Canadian ringette championships in Winnipeg in early April.”

Currently, Edmonton Edge sits on top of the standings and Manitoba Stealth is in second place. Edmonton Wam and Calgary Rath are tied for third with Regina Riot and Manitoba Ice sitting in fourth place. Saskatoon Wild and BC Reign are in fifth.
