Question: Does anyone know about an alleged event in Detroit MI this coming weekend????
I was wondering about where to stay during the Detroit Marathon. Since
this is a "straight shot", is staying in Windsor or Detroit more
advantageous? Is there post-race transportation available between
Detroit and Windsor?
I have right in front of me the entry form for the 1996 Detroit Free
Press/Mazda International Marathon. Could anyone who has run this race
give me some information about the course....
Answer:
It seems like just an "event" and not a race.

You should probably check with the organizers, because there
could be a problem with the race crossing the border -- immigration
officials etc.
I know people get bussed to the start from Detroit and I have a
feeling that immigration officials may make it impossible for you to
jump into the race on the Windsor side without having come on the bus
from Detroit.
Since they ship you out from Detroit and you finish in Detroit,
I'd stay in Detroit
the course starts in beautiful Jackson Park in Windsor (right around
the corner from here) but you only run in Windsor for about 7 miles. The
course then progresses through the Detroit/Windsor tunnel, which lies
under the riverbed of the Detroit River, and winds around downtown
Detroit. You end up in Hart Plaza, a favourite downtown Detroit gathering
place, which is also right on the river. There is no trouble getting back
to Windsor: the tunnel bus stop is right next the Plaza.
I personally have never run the course, but friends tell me it's well
supported and organized. And fun.
