which is a better horse race, Melbourne Cup or Kentucky Derby?
What is your opinion?
Can anyone give me any information on The Kentucky Derby's Mini
marathon? Where I can get an application or anything?
Answer:Apples and Oranges.
KD is for three year olds over 1m2f at equal weights.
MC is all age over 2m and is a handicap.
Not to mention the difference in surface. Kinda hard to compare them
really.
Both great races though.
my favorite races are the ones that PAY me no matter if they
are a Tuesday afternoon maiden or one of these classics, which by
the way are apples an oranges. Can't be compared as one is a three year
old dirt classic and the other is a turf marathon for mature runners.
Each has its own attraction, and excitment. I asked as it is always a
fun way of discussion.
The Kentucky Derby Mini Marathon will be held on Saturday, April 27,
1996. It's always held on the Saturday before the Kentucky Derby, and
the Ky Derby is always on the first Saturday in May.
I no longer live in Louisville so can't help you with a phone number,
but I can tell you that if you call Ken Combs Running Store (if you
talk to Ken, Sylvia, Fred or Judy, tell them Brian Stauss sent you!)
or the Louisville Parks and Recreation Office, they can send you an
entry form.
Good luck! I've run this race at least a dozen times. It's a
challenging course and a great time!
