Question:
1.I have run off and on for the last 5 years, I mean really off and on. I
would take about a year off for each pregnacy because of sickness.(and
then some) I have been training for about 2 months now starting out at
2 miles. I did the 15 miles in 3 hours and 15 minutes. (i know it's
slow). I have three kids and dont have all day to train. Could the
Chicago marathon be in my near future?
Answer:
1.You might refer to Jeff Galloway's book, Marathon. I have read some of it
and I believe he outlines training programs that include walking in them.
That approach would allow you to finish your 26.2 mile goal probably.
Check the book out. I haven't been able to try that approach yet, so I
can't say much.
2.It could be possible. I like the approach Galloway suggests,
Long training runs. glancing at his training schedule for the goal of
finishing, you are about week 15 of 30weeks. So about 15 weeks away
from race day. I don't remember Chicago's date, Mid November?
Looks to me like you can. Make a plan and stick to it.
And in this summer weather, make sure you drink enough water!
