Question:
Just yesterday signed up for the AIDS marathon training program, heading
toward the Honolulu marathon on December 9.
I ran my one and only marathon, completely training by myself, in December
1999 (C.I.M. in Sacramento.)
Since then it has not come together for me...in part due to an arch problem
which has since been mostly resolved with orthotics.
Now I'm hoping this new approach, with a group training program, will help
boost me to the 2d marathon.
It's the Galloway program...run - walk - run. I have doubts about it, but
I'm more than willing to give it a try.
anyone from San Francisco who is also in the AIDS Marathon training program?
(And how am I gonna raise
$3,000?)
Answer:Have you read the book? (They'll send it to you soon if you just
signed up). I read mine cover to cover, and I believe.
One of the reasons I believe is that I know I can walk a marathon
right now. I know I can't run it. Whatever the training between
now and then will be, I know if worst comes to worst (unless I'm
injured), I can at least *walk* the Honolulu marathon. (and the
course is open for, like, 14 hours or something like that)
For those of us who've never run a marathon before -- the run-walk
approach makes it a lot easier to swallow psychologically...
